Review:

Marshall Hail is certainly one very interesting person. He basically lives on board the ship the Hail Nucleus, which is no ordinary ship. It has some advancements that no other country seems to have. And although technically American, Hail doesn't really cater to anyone. Kara is a rich orphan, basically. Her parents died along with Hail's wife and daughters in a horrible thing everyone calls The Five. Kara's CIA job brings her to the Hail Nucleus alongside Marshall. The two of them have much in common, but butt heads often. I really enjoyed reading this book once I got past the first of it. It was a bit slow at first to me, but the action and suspense definitely kicked up several notches after that. Great read!

Review:

The title for this book could not be more appropriate. Masolon is a warrior, a true warrior for the people. Not just certain people either, pretty much all people that are in need of him. He tries his hand at this and that in Gorania as he becomes a champion of the contests, he builds a small army of warriors that help defend those who need it from the ghosts, and even becomes a commander for a king. However, it seems like he is always looked upon as an outsider, a foreigner. Everyone knows he isn't from Gorania and although he is a champion of the people, he is still in a situation of "you can look but not touch" when it comes to the women he is interested in and even his own destined path. I love his character because although Masolon has a heart for the people, he is not above eliminating a lord or two that well deserve it. But this country is not like his own. The rules are different and his ways are not looked upon kindly and are often seen as threatening in one way or another. This land is ruled by kings and lords and whatever whims they have at the moment. His luck in love is just horrible though. I can't help but feel sorry for him in that department. Otherwise, he is one amazing man who walks a lonely road. This was a bit lengthy of a read but well worth the time spent to experience Masolon's journeys. I thoroughly enjoyed it!

Might I add that I do love this cover!!  And I was quite impressed with this being a new author!

Review:

I rather enjoyed reading this book! Full of magic and danger, even though it is a YA read, I was thoroughly entertained. And it seems pretty accurate of teens. In fact, so much so that I wouldn't recommend it for young teens but only due to the language in it. Bryant, Elizabeth, and Devon end up on quite a harrowing journey and all because they found a cell phone in a cab and decided to return it to the owner. Just that one thing led to a whole string of insane events that put everyone in danger and brought them a new and unexpected ally. There is so much I want to know about the characters though. Who is Bryant's dad exactly? Do wizards age normally in this series? What were the purple flames? Does the giant flower ever go away? Who exactly is Thaden? What's Lola's story? Her thoughts on the group were quite interesting, leading me to wonder about Devon. Bryant seems pretty cut and dried when it comes to what he is, but not Devon. I would love to read more of their adventures!

I just finished reading this book. Never read anything by the author before but I found this book about a girl named Millie to be pretty entertaining. I would recommend it for young teens. I did find Millie to be somewhat annoying with her constant story telling at times, but she does eventually learn her lesson and uses her stories for more constructive reasons instead of to torture people. Frankly I think her character quite resembles young teens. But there are some good lessons she learns and that is what makes the book even better. A rather good read!

Review:

Glaycol Masters is a man on a mission. He hates all dragons after his parents were killed in front of him by one, losing one eye and gaining permanent scars as well on that fated day. But there is more to meet the eye than just a man that his scars inside and out. He is strong enough to kill a dragon and goes on a journey to take down one particular dragon, the one that killed his family. Along the way he gains a few tentative friendships from those also wishing to depose the dragons who are now in control. Personally I would like to see more of these lesser characters. They seem very intriguing and all have different backgrounds. The end left me with some questions and a little sadness. However, the author has created these dragons in a way that it's as if I can hear their booming voices as I read. I am hoping for more of this story!

Review:
A great follow up to book one, I can see improvement in the author's writing. More danger and new characters, this one will keep you on the edge of your seat. Love and loss binds this group together as they move through different states on a quest to find those they love. The zombies in this series are pretty disgusting and scary. Zombies in general are scary, but zombies with ideas that speak and are fast are even scarier. The only thing is it needs a bit more editing and some formatting work. Otherwise, a very entertaining read you don't want to start at night.

Review:
As if this group of misfits couldn't get any more unpopular. And yet they have! I would normally feel sorry for them but this group proves over and over how competent they are. And yet there is some truth to this series about how often people are afraid of those that are different than them and the past is an ugly reminder to us all. I love how the author has blended in things like the witch trial to his world where someone who could whisper to heal people could be deemed dangerous by those that didn't understand it, which were most humans. The truth is still a real problem for most that hear it in this book and although some bad things happen, there is also good. But I have to say that those who find trouble in this series tends to stay in it or die.

Review:

Book 3 of the Deathsworn Arc series is just as full of intrigue and danger as the last two books in the series.  I was quite intrigued when it was explained what the heart stones were for when the group finally reaches their destination.  But even in the city are they in danger still.  Korhan, mostly from his own ego and ignorance.  Brael, it seems, has picked up an assassin on his trail since the last one "failed" in their duty.  And then there is part of Vashni's past that resurfaces.  Hers might be the most interesting story of all, even if it is slowly being unfolded piece by piece in this series.  She has lead many lives.  I really like the bonding going on between the group and how Vashni has changed since she met them.  Her view on non-Elvish people has changed and she is now more willing to befriend others instead of avoid them and look down on them.  The revelation at the end of the book was very exciting indeed and I am kind of hoping to hear a little elaboration on that at some point.

Review:

Book 2 in the Deathsworn Arc series is another one full of adventure and danger!  This group just keeps running into trouble and they can't seem to avoid it.  While looking for Callen, the boy they sent away before fighting the dragon, they come upon a town riddled with the plague.  Everyone in town seems to be dying of it and there are literally pits of dead people.  To make matters worse, the Servants of the Flame find them and almost kills Korhan in the process.  It turns out when one threat to the kingdom has been vanquished, more pop up in its place.  The Verkreath are rat men that live deep underground and when the group has to go underground to avoid the Servants, they run into them with some nasty consequences.  And while Vashni is no doubt very important to the group and a very powerful elf, I cannot help but think that Brael is even more powerful than she is.  I wish we could see more of what he can do and have hope of it in the following book.  All in all, this is one fast paced, adventurous read that is guaranteed to entertain those that are interested in this type of book!

RELEASE DAY and REVIEW for The Mercenary's Bounty by C.J. Davis

   For those of you who are fans of Indiana Jones and action, this is one for you to pick up and check it out.  Chase is a former military guy turned mercenary who is looking for the big payout.  He doesn't have a woman to tie him down so being a mercenary is his life.  When the opportunity comes along for some big money, he takes it.  The job takes him to the jungles of Papua, New Guinea where dangers lurk around every corner.  And unfortunately there are two other mercenaries following him who also want the bounty so they can retire from the business.  This married couple, Samson and Naomi, are very dangerous and willing to go great lengths to secure the bounty.  The job is to find a certain plant that could change the face of cancer research.  While the mercenaries are there for the money, the guy who employed Chase is there to try and save his dying father.
   This is a fast-paced book but an interesting adventure no doubt!  Some of the things Chase encountered made me cringe a little!  I won't divulge what they were.  Don't want to give away all the good parts.  What I can tell you is that out of all of the characters in the book, I just couldn't find it in my heart to like Naomi at all.  Just couldn't.  She has quite the mean streak.

The Amazing Adventures of Toby the Trilby by Angela Castillo

   Toby is a one of a kind.  He is 12 and was created in a lab.  He calls the six who created him, his grambles.  Kind of like grandparents.  Toby has mostly human DNA with a bit of cat DNA as well that has given him a few feline features like how he is rather short for his age, has a tail, ears, and a keen sense of smell.  But he looks much like a human boy would otherwise.  He lives underground with his grambles and has never seen what is on the surface.  It was foretold that the end was coming for mankind and the grambles were scientists sent down below to prepare massive areas for people to escape to, however, they never came.  So no one knows what is up there.  Toby has a keen interest in going to see, and he keeps hearing a voice that it is obvious no one else is hearing.  He seeks to find the owner of the voice and to find the answer to his greatest question: does he have a soul?  Because of how he was created, he has doubts about it.  So he sets off on an adventure to find out.  This adventure will be dangerous.  Not all of those who are left are nice.
 
   This book is geared to a younger audience, but I still found myself intrigued with the plot.  It is an interesting story and very clean.  This would be a great kids book and a safe one.  No romantic gestures in this one to worry about and it is inspirational.  Toby is seeking the Soul Creator to find the answer to his question.  He comes upon the good, the bad, and the ugly of what is left of humanity.  Not only are people sometimes openly hostile, but some have pretty much lost their minds.  It is a dismal state of affairs really, but Toby's journey is one of hope.  And hope can change everything.  I am interested to see where Toby's journey takes him next!
