New Release & Review: Into the Abyss (Hell on Earth #2) by Brenda K Davies

Into the Abyss (Hell on Earth #2)
Brenda K Davies

Blurb:

Amalia

Born behind a seal, I never experienced anything beyond those four walls until the jinn were freed from our prison. On Earth, the other demons see us as nothing but monsters; however, the demons don’t know the jinn as well as they think they do. I’m beginning to realize I don’t either.
When the jinn unleash a trap ensnaring most of the palitons in the Abyss, I find myself torn between loyalty to my kind and the anguish of those who remain free. Unable to walk away without at least trying to help, I offer to do the one thing I know could turn the jinn against me...even if it means joining with a demon I can’t resist.

Magnus

The last thing I expected when returning from a hunt with Corson, Caim, and Raphael was to find most of our camp caught in the jinn’s trap. Nor was I expecting to capture the fiery beauty with the multi-hued eyes and jinn blood. Even knowing what she is, something about Amalia calls to me in a way no woman has.
When she offers to help us, I know better than to trust a manipulative jinni. However, if I have any chance of saving my friends, I must follow her into the Abyss. As we travel deeper into the jinn’s twisted world, I realize there is far more to it than meets the eye, but just what secrets do Amalia and the Abyss hide?

Review:
Such a great read!  Into the Abyss was no disappointment in this second book of the Hell on Earth series.  The connection between Magnus and Amalia was immediate, but there were so many things in the way.  Including prejudices against the jinn and what they have represented in the past.  What he and the others don't know?  Not all jinn are the same.  And that makes a huge difference. It changes their views, especially Magnus's.  The fight he puts up against his feelings for Amalia is admirable, for sure.  Amalia, on the other hand, seems almost in need of protecting, but she exudes a quiet strength about her.  Not only did I enjoy their connection, but I really loved the danger and suspense that added many more layers to dig through in this book.  Definitely intriguing! 5 out of 5 stars!

New Release and Review for Hell on Earth by Brenda K Davies

Blurb:

Wren

It’s been fourteen years since the gateway to Hell opened and life as I knew it ceased to exist. Taken in by a group of humans, I’ve managed to survive in the Wilds. Now I have a chance to do more than survive while building a better life for all Wilders. Unfortunately, it means doing the one thing I never believed I would do—joining with the demons I’ve always considered my enemies.
Working with demons wouldn’t be a horrible prospect except it means dealing with Corson. The irritating demon who manages to get under my skin until I’m not sure if I’d rather kill him or kiss him. The closer I get to him, the more memories of my long-buried past slip free, leaving me uncertain of what’s real and what’s not…or even of who I am.

Corson

I’d thought joining with the Wilders to hunt down the creatures that escaped Hell was a job I’d enjoy. Not only do I get to kill my enemies, but I also have a chance to get closer to Wren. I wasn’t expecting the stubborn woman to go out of her way to avoid me.
Cut off from our allies, Wren has no choice but to work with me. However, the more time we spend together, the more I realize that though she would prefer me dead, there’s nothing I won’t do to keep her safe. When a lethal new threat rises, I begin to fear keeping Wren alive may be impossible.

Review:
If Lucifer still existed in this book I would have said that Earth had become the Devil's playground.  However, he's not.  But that doesn't mean that Earth is no longer dangerous.  Because it is.  All of the demons released by the seals falling are now roaming free and not all of them want to play fair.  In fact, they fallen angels are still there and regrouping quickly.  Corson, the demon, and Wren, a Wilder, are just part of a group that are out scouting for the fallen as well as any troublesome demons that do not want to submit to the new leadership and obey him.  If they pose a threat, they must be taken out.  In the midst of all of the danger, Corson deal with his growing feelings for Wren and attempts to get to know her better.  Wren is not as receptive though due to past trauma.  Because of it, she is as hard as nails on the outside, but Corson brings out a side in her that was long buried and she had hoped to keep it that way.  He makes her feel like no other ever has, but he's a demon, someone who used to be the enemy.  I really loved reading this book!  Corson and Wren's story is not only one of love, but of the ability of man to survive whatever may come.  We survive and adapt.  This book also had it's rather scary moments that read almost like a horror story.  I loved the spin to it though!  Earth has no doubt become the demon's playground!  (I would recommend reading the Road to Hell Series first to become better acquainted with the characters.)

Review:

This. This book tore me up in places. It was absolutely gut wrenching at times. Full of action and suspense, the last in this particular series will not disappoint! And to be honest, it seems like every hope and possibility that Kobal and River get comes with some terrible consequence or revelation. And there are some serious revelations in this. Be prepared for loss, shock, and amazement!

New Release and Review for The Road (Road to Hell Book 3) by Brenda K. Davies

NEW RELEASE!!
The Road (Road to Hell Book 3)
by Brenda K. Davies

Blurb:

River,
Standing at the edge of the gateway, I understand two things. One, I have no idea what I’m doing. Two, the gateway to Hell is not closing. Now, there may be only one option left to me, to all of us. I may have to enter the one place I’d hoped to avoid throughout this journey. I may have to enter Hell.
Unfortunately, a change in events takes the choice away from me.

Kobal,
I always knew the idea of River entering into Hell could become a reality, but I expected her to be by my side when, or if, it happened. I expected to be there to protect her, but she’s gone in alone. Now, not only am I trying to catch up with her, but I know Lucifer will soon learn of her entrance into my world, and he will be after her too.
I just don’t know which one of us will reach her first.

***There will be at least four books in this series. Not all things will be resolved in this book. Due to graphic language, violence and sexual content this book is recommended for readers 18+ years of age.***

Review:
Intense! Things only become more and more intense as the series goes on! More secrets are spilled causing River some doubts and causing Kobal to rethink his strategy when it comes to keeping things from her "for her own good". Some serious fighting happens and super surprising moments. Yeah, they follow the road down into hell and it is hot. And loaded with danger. Then there is this super creepy carnival...oh yeah. That part could give me nightmares. Coming from this author, the level of creeptasticness is surprising and cool because she definitely pulls it off well!
5 out of 5 stars!

NEW RELEASE AND REVIEW FOR Carved (Road to Hell Book 2) by Brenda K. Davies

Blurb:

River,
As the perilous journey across a country I’d long thought destroyed begins, I don’t know who I am anymore or what I’m becoming. My abilities grow stronger with each passing day, as does the fear of what comes next. All I know is that I will do anything to avoid becoming like Lucifer, and to protect those I love, even if that means protecting them from me.

Kobal,
No matter what it takes, I will keep River safe, even if my actions end up driving a wedge between us. River is mine to protect, no matter how hard that might be to do now that our journey has begun. I won’t stop until Lucifer is destroyed, won’t stop until I claim my throne, and she will be by my side when I do. It’s all just a matter of keeping her alive until then.

***This Series will follow Kobal and River throughout. Not all things will be resolved in this book. Due to graphic language, violence and sexual content this book is recommended for readers 18+ years of age.***

Review:
This author continues to surprise me. I finished Carved in about 24 hours even though it wasn't really a short novel. I was rather engrossed in the book as River and Kobal's journey progressed further. In this book they leave the relative safety of the wall and start towards the opening to Hell. Unfortunately they encounter some nasty demons and...things along the way. There are human casualties as well as a few humans who are barely keeping it together as they watch the atrocities unfolding. I mean, you've got gargoyles, screaming blood lusty vines, and a creepy angel room. It's no wonder people are losing it. Whereas the first book was not as scary, this one is definitely demon and the pits of Hell oriented. One of my favorite things in this book were the skelleins. They were hilarious and yet kind of creepy. But I would love to see more of them! Can't wait until the next book in the series comes out. I am hooked!

Review for Between Heaven and Earth by TJ Rudolph

Blurb:

Damascus Knowles knows that he is heading for trouble the day he falls in love with a human teenager, Amelia Donovan.
As an angel sent to earth as a watchman to protect it from fallen, evil angels; he had broken the most cardinal law - falling in love. His failed attempts to stay away from her, leads to her finding out what he is, which puts Amelia’s life in danger.
After a brief time together, Damascus’s fears come to pass when higher ranking angels find out what he has done and remove him from the earth without so much as a goodbye; leaving Amelia distraught.
Months later Amelia is seized by one of the rebel angels, who also happen to be Damascus’s former brother Demetrius. This is a deliberate move by Demetrius to draw Damascus out and he is forced to return to the earth. When Damascus is back on earth he receives word from his brother who challenges him to a duel. The stakes, being Amelia’s life, starts a great war between Heaven and Earth.
Damascus and Amelia's story will continue in the second book of the series, titled "Between Angels". Coming soon!

Review:
Between Heaven and Earth is a very sweet and very clean read. Damascus is a watchman. He isn't allowed to fall in love, but that doesn't stop him from forming an instant connection with Amelia that puts him in danger of judgement from the elders. No matter what they do, they can't seem to stay away from each other. When Damascus leaves, Amelia tries to move on but finds that she just can't. The fight for their live is long and arduous, but worth it. I would recommend this to teens who are interested in books about angels and demons!

After being rescued by an elite group of Sentinels, Kristoff can't ignore his powerful longing to claim his mate, who also happens to be his savior's voice in the demon realm.  The first book In The Sentinel Demon Series, a paranormal romance by NY Times and USA Today bestselling author J.S. Scott.

27 year old Kat Larson is haunted by demons. Literally. And how was she to know that there was more than one type of demon? The Evils want to destroy her soul, while billionaire Sentinel demon, Zachary Winston, claims that he wants to protect her. Kat opts for Zach’s protection…but it doesn’t come without a price. It requires a demon bargain…and what he suggests surprises poor Kat almost as much as the fact that demons really do exist. Why would the handsome billionaire want to make such an agreement with a curvy, plain redheaded woman like her?

Billionaire Zachary Winston has a mission and it’s one that he vows to complete. As a Sentinel demon, his task is to protect Kat from the Evils that will corrupt her soul. His only problem is that she is his “radiant,” the one woman who can lighten the darkness of his demon existence and be his eternal mate. Zach has to fight an internal war between man and demon as he protects Kat, not quite sure which one will win. He’s one part demon, one part man, but they both yearn for Kat’s lush, full figured body and kind, compassionate heart. As Zach becomes more and more enchanted with Kat, he’s hoping she can learn to love a lonely man/demon that’s only slightly wicked.

This paranormal romance contains graphic language, steamy love scenes, and lovable alpha males that also happen to be mythological demons.
