S.M Phillips is a fun loving mum from Manchester. When she’s not busy writing, you’ll most likely find her head buried deep inside her kindle with a cup of coffee in hand. Talk to her when she’s reading and things could get pretty colourful, pretty fast, just ask her Hubby.
She is a lover of chocolate, especially if it has peanut butter inside and loves a good cocktail or two. She often wonders if she should spend more time buying shoes, but then she remembers her never ending TBR list and realises that money can be spent on more important things… Books.

New Release and Review for A Girl In Black and White by Danielle Lori

A Girl In Black And White
by Danielle Lori

Blurb:

My once upon a time didn’t end with happily ever after—but with blood-stained hands and cold blue eyes. The story of my life had been laid beneath my feet since childhood, but until death, I’d never known that road was paved with stones called lies.

In this city of sun and heat, cloaked in dark, both inside and out, I became somebody other than Farm Girl. There was no assassin behind my back. No, my shackles were just as tight but came in a different form.

Like Death’s icy fingers running down my spine, the ones that had gripped me for months, my past haunted my present in the guise of nostalgia. My old chains still left marks on my skin, their owner’s gaze following behind. But he didn’t know I lived. He didn’t know I was so close, that I heard his name spoken every day. That I still hated him. Until my hate started tasting suspiciously different.

One mistake and everything I’d created unraveled. A liar. Corruptor. He stood in front of me now. The air was heavy with expectation, tense with the possibilities of how this would unfold, of what he would do.

But there was always two sides to every story, and maybe in this version, the corruptor wasn’t him, but me.

*This should be read after A Girl Named Calamity.
Warning: explicit sexual content, violence, and profanity.

Review:
The ending of this book blew my mind!! I so was not expecting that! What was that?? The pieces are all beginning to fall into place in book two. Calamity's fate, who she really is, and who Weston really is are just a few things that truths are being revealed about. Calamity is not exactly who many think she is. She is infinitely more dangerous in ways. And those who have an inkling of it are out for their own agendas. Sometimes that seems to include Weston. But he is a strange one. He has many layers to peel back to find the real man beneath them. A man long buried under his past and his heritage. But make no mistake, heads will roll if anyone lays a hand on Calamity. The man is as much of an enigma as she is. And some of the supporting characters end up being different than I thought once their motives were revealed. I cannot wait to see what happens next!

New Release: Taming A Rogue Earl (Taming The Heart Series) by Tammy Andresen

Taming A Rogue Earl
Tammy Andresen

Blurb:

Lord Lucius Loudoun is capable of success in only two endeavors... work and women. Bedding them, anyway. He's given up trying to accomplish anymore. So why is he even tempted by an innocent like Miss May Stanley?

May has loved Loudoun since she was a child, but he looks straight through her, still treating her like she's a girl of thirteen instead of a woman of twenty. How will she ever convince him to give her a chance?

As the two tangle, attraction ignites, but can that spark become a flame?

Review:
Lucius is one guy I have been wanting to learn some background info on. His serious drinking problem almost killed him in the last book I read. Now he is working in America for Barrett Maddox. During his "work", not only does Barrett show up, but he brings along another ghost from Lucius's past. The girl who basically nursed him back to health on his voyage over to America: May. That was six years ago. Now she's a woman of 19 and secretly looking for a husband so she doesn't have to return to England, where she feels she doesn't belong. Lo and behold, she and Lucius have some serious chemistry. However, he thinks he's no good for her and May just wants a chance to find somewhere she belongs. I really enjoyed learning more about Lucius, even if his past is rather heartbreaking. His and May's story was a great read!!
5 out of 5 stars!
