If I had known from the beginning what he would do to me, would I have changed anything?
No matter what had happened with him I never would have been led down the path that brought me to my soul mate.
For that I could never be sorry.
I just wish I'd had time to make my time count.
I wish I'd been able to see her grow.
I wish I could have said goodbye, to have felt his touch one last time.
The other man in my life took that away from me but I would never change a thing.
Although he was my undoing he was also my saviour, I just wish I could have been his.

This is my part of the story.

Release Blitz for Stone by Mardi Maxwell

She brought him to her world to save the human race. He intends to save her.

In 2230 Earth was invaded by an alien species. After years of war, the men are gone and the women are left to fight for the survival of the human race. When one of the aliens’ time travel devices is discovered a task force is formed to bring some of Earth’s most elite soldiers into the future.

Lieutenant Sunny Blake is ordered to travel back to 2125 and retrieve Lieutenant Jefferson W. Stone. Sunny can lead a squad of fighters and keep them alive, but she’s never had to deal with a man like Stone. A man whose reputation on and off the battlefield has proceeded him into the twenty-third century.

Stone has two interests. High-risk missions and lust-filled nights of pleasure with the many ladies who pursue him. Finding himself thrust into the future, where the women know how to fight but don’t know what to do with a lusty man, is the last place he’d ever want to be.

“Who are you sending to get these men?”
The General looked at Commander Mitchell. Sunny looked as well and found her staring back at her.
“We have four teams,” Commander Mitchell said. “Each team has been assigned a historian advisor and a medical team. You, Lieutenant Blake, are Alpha team. You’re going back for the first warrior in two days’ time. Your historian will give you the information you need to rescue him. Once you get him back here the medical team and the Council will take over. If he decides to stay he’ll be assigned to your squad. We expect the men we save to help us bring back more soldiers and supplies while we familiarize them with our world. Any other questions?”
“Yes, ma’am,” Sunny said. “Who am I retrieving?”
“Jefferson W. Stone,” Commander Mitchell said.
“The twenty-third? The one who died in 2125?” Sunny had to work hard to keep the excitement from her voice.
Commander Mitchell nodded. “We thought it was appropriate to choose him first since this is the twenty-third century.”
General Davis stood. “Lieutenant Blake, get some rest and report to your historian at zero six hundred. At this time, we’ve covered everything and you’re all dismissed.”
Sunny and the other lieutenants saluted then left the room. Once they were out of sight of the Council chambers the squad leaders surrounded Sunny and the ribbing began.
“Wow! Jefferson W. Stone the Twenty-third! Your all-time huge crush!” Kelby Barker said, then laughed.
Before Sunny could answer, Ginny Johnson piped up, “According to his biography you’re his type. Tall and curvy with big,” she held her hands at her chest then moved them out several inches and laughed.
“Maybe we should put her in a chastity belt. We might have one in storage somewhere,” Lieutenant Jo Miller said.
“There’s no need,” Sunny said.
“No need? He’s all you ever talked about after you saw his picture in his biography,” Lieutenant Dean said. “And, by the way, we know you tore his picture out of the book.”
“You can’t prove that.” Sunny laughed. “Remember I’ve read his biography—.”
“You mean you’ve practically memorized it,” Jo said.
“I prefer to say I’ve studied his book but either way I know his secrets. I think I can handle him.” The initial excitement she’d felt was sinking in and becoming a reality. What would it be like to stand next to him? To be able to reach out and touch him? A man from the past that she’d never dreamt she’d meet much less have a chance to get to know. Stone was a man’s man and he’d appeared in most of her dreams for the last eleven years.
“The book says a lot of women have handled him,” Lieutenant Douglas said then winked and added, “Or rather he handled them.”
“They say when he died, the women he made love to grieved for him for the rest of their lives,” Lieutenant Dean said with an envious heartfelt sigh.
“Bull crap,” Sunny said. “They probably said good riddance, got married, and never gave him another thought.”
Ginny laughed. “Well, just in case we get lucky, and he’s as horny and energetic as his biography says, I’m going to the clinic to see if they have any kind of contraceptives.”
“I’ll come with you,” Kelby said.
“Me, too.” Jo said then looked at Sunny. “Coming?”
“No and all of you need to remember I called dibs on Stone ten years ago. So hands off, ladies.”
“That was just a game we played at your sixteenth birthday party,” Jo said.
“Too bad. Dibs are dibs,” Sunny said. “Jo, you claimed Calder Campbell. Ginny you claimed Blade Lawrence and Kelby you claimed Gideon Williams. I’m enforcing the claim on Stone.”
“Spoilsport,” Ginny said.
Sunny laughed and hurried away while inside one phrase repeated in her mind—hot damn, I’m going to meet Jefferson Wakefield Stone in the flesh!

Review for The Burden of Trust by Tabitha Dye

The drive home from the doctor’s appointment was like any other afternoon in sunny Florida. Kerri sat in the passenger’s side treasuring the image of their baby girl. The small green Honda CRV, that Kerri just purchased two weeks ago for the expecting baby was filled with smiles and excitement beyond imagine. That was last happy moment Kate ever had of Kerri.

In the process of recovery, Kate meets an arrogant actor, who accidentally falls in love with her. Sadly his publicity forces a dark secret of Kate's into the light and she must determine if she can forgive him.

To get right down to brass tacks, this is not something I would normally read.  It's kind of out of my "genre" so to say.  However, I did find this a rather intriguing read and had to follow it through to the end to find out where everything would lead.  Kate is one conflicted individual and with good reason.  Some of those reasons are hidden until you get well into the book.  At that point you do start wondering what exactly the big secret is that she's hiding, and it's a doozy.  But then again, she was in a rough place and had little choice.  Then years later she is still coping with losing Kerri and their baby when Chris Cody strolls into her life quite forcefully.  The man who has everything he ever wanted, but realizes how empty his life has been and how no one is actually interested in him personally.  It's just his fame and fortune.  But then there's Kate who's brutally honest and causes him to rethink everything.  A friendship buds between them and Kate finds that she can finally let go and trust someone again and she starts changing for the better, but as always, something awful happens that causes quite the upheaval in her and Chris's friendship.  To be honest, you're left wondering just where their friendship is heading because it's quite intense to be just friends.  But it doesn't really say in the end and there are a few loose ends so I am hoping that there is a second book in the works.
A solid 4 out of 5 stars!

About The Author

I am a mother to two young children, who in turn keep me young. I live in Dublin, Ireland but, I’m originally from South Devon in the UK. I work full time in a pharmacy and write in all my spare time: in my lunch hour, when watching TV at night and anywhere. I have always been interested in reading from a young age and then 2 years ago I was given a kindle as a present and it was the best thing that happened to me. I was able to read lots of books ever week and then I started to write reviews for all the books I read. I took this one step further and started my own facebook page – Sparkling Pink Bookshelf. I intended to upload all of my reviews for the books I read. This was purely for pleasure and then I answered a post on Facebook for someone to read for reviews and thought I had died and gone to heaven. I was reading about 7/8 books a week, the kindle made this achievable. I would read at any opportunity I could, even staying up til the small hours to finish a book. I loved it. Then one day I was asked to beta read a book – I loved this side of it, it was so exciting. I have worked with a number of indie authors and have remained loyal to a few select authors and I beta read all their After a year or more of doing this, I thought maybe I could write some of the stories that were in my head and I just decided to write and see what happened. I wrote about 70% of a story and then saw a post for the NaNoWriMo competition – to write 50,000 words in 30 days, I decided that this was a challenge I wanted to take and the Til Death Us Do Part series was born. I am always thinking of situations that can be turned into a story and have started a few stories, which in turn will be completed and released to my readers. I love to hear what my readers have to say about my work and please find my links below. Thank you for your support and I hope you enjoy this series of books as much as I enjoyed writing them.

WARNING: This book contains adult content! Only meant for readers 18+! (language, violence, sexual situations)

If only she hadn’t been so curious.  But that had always been a flaw of hers, and her mother had warned her that it would get Jane into trouble one day.  Well, today was that day.  Down in the huge barrel were guns.  Not just any guns, but fully automatic weapons without any kind of serial numbers to identify them by.  Jane gulped loudly and started backing away.  Maybe she could leave and forget that any of this ever happened.
Her hopes were dashed aside as the back door creaked open loudly and two bulky men in suits stepped outside, glaring at her and especially the camera in her hand.  Realization hit Jane that the men thought she was taking pictures of the guns.  It would probably be best if she handed them the camera, explain that she was just sight-seeing, and then leave.  Instead, she ran.
Putting every ounce of energy she had into her legs, Jane pumped them as fast as they would go, but the two men breathed down her neck, making the hairs stand on end in fear.  Large arms grabbed her around the waist and brought her down to the ground with an oomph.  As she lay still gasping, trying to catch her breath, Goon #1 grabbed her arms and hauled her roughly to her feet.  Pulling away from the man as hard as she could, Jane kicked out at him, connecting with his shin.  He grunted in pain as his eyes became bloodshot and watery.  Goon #2 watched for a moment with mild amusement before pulling out a switch blade.  The click of metal made Jane pause and watch the long blade spring into sight.  The edge glinted in the remaining rays of sunlight, inciting a fear in her heart that made her legs suddenly feel like jelly.
“Please don’t hurt me,” she stammered.

The goons grinned and laughed as Goon #2 brought the blade up to her face, nicking her cheek just enough to draw a line of blood to the surface along with a burn to her skin.  The man came close enough that Jane could smell the whiskey on his breath.  He whispered in her ear, “You’re a pretty hot mess.  Want to know what we do to unsuspecting women that come into our territory?”

As if this group of misfits couldn't get any more unpopular. And yet they have! I would normally feel sorry for them but this group proves over and over how competent they are. And yet there is some truth to this series about how often people are afraid of those that are different than them and the past is an ugly reminder to us all. I love how the author has blended in things like the witch trial to his world where someone who could whisper to heal people could be deemed dangerous by those that didn't understand it, which were most humans. The truth is still a real problem for most that hear it in this book and although some bad things happen, there is also good. But I have to say that those who find trouble in this series tends to stay in it or die.

A 5 out of 5 stars!

Book 1: Rewriting Destiny:
Book 2: Fighting Destiny:

I grew up in a small town in Iowa. I have 2 older sisters and amazing parents. Growing up, I was always a daddy’s girl, hanging out with him in the garage, fishing, and building stuff. I loved to play softball and swimming, but reading, telling stories, and writing were my passion, even at a young age. I took a break from writing for a while, but you could always find me with a book in my hand.

I have three children – two boys and a girl. They are my whole world. Even when I’m having the worst day ever, they brighten up my day and make me smile.

A few years ago, there was this story that would always play out in my head and no matter how many times I went through it, from beginning to end, it would never fade. So I decided to put it on paper. I didn’t plan on publishing it, but when it was almost done, a friend asked to read it. She said it was a story that needed to be shared. And that’s what started my writing career.

I love all genres of books, and even though I started with writing MC Romance, I have a whole book of ideas, so you can expect more from me than just MC, though romance is in my blood.

Even though I currently work two jobs, my ultimate dream is to become a full time author. I want to be able to spend my days filling pages with stories. I want to be the reason people find a reason to smile or laugh from lines on a page. Reading a book allows me to live in someone else’s shoes, even if only for a few minutes. It’s a way to leave my life and troubles behind and I want to be help others do that as well.

With her dangerous career as a rising FBI agent, Kate is very careful to keep her circle close. With her frosty glare and no tolerance for games, too many people are intimidated. Weakness isn’t permitted in her line of work, and in her world – love is a weakness she just can’t accept.

Noah Russo had his life all sorted out. Until it took a tragic turn. Picking up the pieces, he leaves his job in Miami and comes home to start a new life. A life that he didn’t expect. Gone is the adventure, the heart-pounding excitement, the sultry heat that he left behind – along with a blue-eyed girl who stole his heart.

When their worlds collide, Kate does everything in her power to keep Noah at a distance. But when it comes to matters of the heart, all rules were made to be broken.

Twenty-six-year-old Megan Connors’s life is not going in the direction she thought it would. With her love life in the dumps, she doesn’t think it could get any worse until her long-time crush, Shane asks to move in. After all, he has no clue that she’s been in love with him for the past ten years. But fate has a way of turning things around.

As their relationship goes from “just friends” to lovers, life takes a turn for the unexpected. Shane isn’t the person that Megan once fell in love with all those years ago. Shane has a past; deadly secrets that are only revealed once the FBI knocks on Megan’s door.

Secrets, tragedy, and deceit force Shane—and Megan—to make choices that will change their lives forever. Once Megan learns the truth, will she still want to be with Shane? Or will someone else be at the end of her broken road?

The Broken Road contains mature themes, heart-pounding action, edge-of-your-seat suspense, graphic violence and steamy romance, with a side of strong language, drug dealing, and a lot of sarcastic humor.

The Sequel to the sexy, suspenseful novel The Broken Road.
“Not a day had gone by that I didn’t dream about Shane, that one day he would come home to us. I imagined that our days would be filled with long talks and moments of reconnection, and our nights would be full of hot, sweaty sex. But things weren’t going the way I had imagined. Baby steps, Megan. He just needs to adjust. I couldn’t change the past and we would have to take things in stride. We couldn’t be the same couple we once were, not overnight.”

When Shane Turner shows up at Megan Connors’s carport one rainy night, Megan thinks she’s dreaming. The man who has held her heart since high school, and the father of her unborn child, is supposed to be dead, killed in an explosion at a safe house. But somehow Shane has survived, and Megan believes that with him home safely and their baby on the way, they will finally get their happy ending.

But it soon becomes apparent that all is not what it seems. Shane is home, but he’s brought some demons back with him, demons that Megan can’t fight alone. Shane is a haunted man, plagued by paranoia and distrust. He believes that danger threatens their lives at every turn, and it is tearing their life together apart.

In this compelling sequel to The Broken Road, Shane must deal with the present and the future, with the cartel—and himself. Megan must protect her family and, when the time comes, must make the ultimate decision.

Will Shane and Megan have their happily ever after, or will it just be another broken promise?

Melissa grew up in Maryland by the Chesapeake Bay, where her favorite memories took place near the water. Now she lives near Washington, D.C. with her family and her two wonder-mutts. In between the chaos of laundry, chasing after her three children and trying not to burn dinner, Melissa continues to find her escape by feeding her addiction of reading and writing about love, suspense, and sarcasm.
