Review for A Girl Named Calamity by Danielle Lori

Blurb:

I was a simple farm girl living in the magical land, Alyria, where men ruled and women only existed.
Call me sheltered. Call me naive. I was probably both. I never expected to be the key to Alyria's destruction.
The journey I was on wasn't only one to save me. But one where I had a lot of learning to do. With men. With magic. And with myself.
But I wasn't alone. No. I had an escort. One I wasn't so sure about. But one I couldn't afford to lose and one I wasn't so sure I could even leave.
I had many hopes. But the most important one was that my name wouldn't become my fate.

WARNING: This novel contains blood, violence, profanity, and some sexual content.
It does end on a cliffhanger.

Review:
Holy bombshell, major cliffhanger alert! No kidding! The closer I got to the end, the more I realized there was no way this thing was wrapping up in one book. Now let's begin at the beginning. Calamity is a girl who seems to bring trouble with her no matter where she is. Let's just say her name is fitting. Quite fitting. More people are either out to kill her, manipulate her, or just take advantage of her innocence of most things in the world than I could possibly count. On the opposite end of the spectrum, some of the weirdest characters in this book steer far away from her. But the question is still: Who is Calamity? We know she's magical and the assassin she hires to escort her is as well. But I'm not completely sure who he is either. Yeah he was a Titan, but there is so much more there. And their "relationship"? Tense, tense is a very good word for it. It's one of those "Just get a room and get it over with" kind of tensions. Weston the assassin is dark, moody, hot, and deadly. Oh and he can read minds. That's an interesting trait. The ending left me wanting so much more!! I need to know what happens to these two on their journey!
5 out of 5 stars!!
