Hidden Moon by K.R. Thompson
Blurb:
When 17 year old Nikki Harmon moves to Bland, Virginia, she expects her new life will be as dull as the town's name.
But she finds that not everything is as it seems and the forest surrounding her new home holds secrets—one of them being a centuries-old Indian legend, carefully guarded by Adam Black Water, the leader of a pack of boys known as the Keepers.
Nikki will soon discover that the forest holds more magic and danger than she ever dreamed possible as a killer lurks on the Appalachian Trail. As she searches for the truth, she will unearth the darkest secret of all.
But will she lose her heart? Or will she lose her life?
Review:
I was pleasantly surprised at how much I really liked this book. It's a paranormal YA and not one that pushes the limits of whether your teen should read it or not. Nikki is 17 and moving to a different place after the death of her father. As podunk as it seems to be, this new place hides all sorts of mysteries and fantastical creatures. Nikki herself is not what she thinks she is. When she arrives, she meets Brian, the all around good guy who has taken an interest in her. And then there's Adam, who lives on the reservation. Adam who has secrets of his own. I will admit that at first this sounded way too much like Twilight, but then it took a left turn into something way different and I like that. A great read!
5 out of 5 stars!
