C.J. is a west coast native who has lived on both coasts and now lives near the middle, in Colorado! She also loves sweet red wine, the SF 49ers, and unlike most authors, doesn't have any cats (allergies!). When she's not writing, she can be found chasing around her kids or working at her day job, which she totally feels interferes with life, but it also gives her inspiration for her books, since reality is sometimes way more interesting than fiction.

Elwyndyn (Realm Jumpers Book 1) by Raven Williams

I recently read this book and I have to say that the author does well at creating a world of elves, both dark and light.  It is very in depth about them and about their language.  I got a little caught up in the wording here and there but she explains it all very well.  This story is an interesting one seeing as to how humans are having memory flashes of a previous life as an elf and those elves actually live in a different realm, but some of them came to earth at one point in time.  They get the choice of either having their elven memories taken away or being completely restored as an elf.  The dark elves, however, are trying to boost their numbers by stealing the female humans.  They want to take over the realm of the light elves.
The elves watch other realms to see how things are playing out because everything that happens can affect them.  It's a fascinating thought, almost like the butterfly effect.   And Valael, a previous elf-witch, is a character I sure want to know more about!! Overall, I enjoyed this book!

A solid 4 out of 5 stars!

Conduit (An Emily Monroe Novel Book 1) by Angie Martin

  Emily Monroe is a private investigator working with her best friend Cassie, who's uncle is a detective.  Cassie used to be a cop to until she was shot while out on a call.  Because of her skills and Emily's unique abilities, private investigating is their thing.  They are good at what they do and can usually find things out that the police cannot.  Emily just knows things, almost like being psychic but not quite.  Things start getting weird though when she gets a message through automatic handwriting and starts hearing voices.  Then, she and Cassie are pulled into a serial killer case where the guy is slashing girls up before they do.  The torture is just gruesome and each of them have a letter of the alphabet carved on them somewhere.  The girls suffered horrifically before dying.  Turns out that the message the killer is leaving is the same message that Emily wrote:  Hear me.  There's no way she can tell the police that happened.  They don't know about her abilities and she doesn't want to be pulled from the case.  But this guy is nothing like what Emily Monroe expected.  David is a cold-blooded killer who can seem like the nicest guy in the world, but has a darkness surrounding him and he uses it.  His ultimate target?  Emily Monroe.

 
   So, this book made me want to leave all the lights on and check every lock several times.  Just the thought that there might ever be sickos out there like this is disturbing to say the least.  It was a great novel.  Very interesting and it pulled you in quick.  But serial killers scare the mess out of me.  Maybe it's because killers like David don't always feel the ramifications of murder.  Some of them just don't feel anything and they don't feel bad about killing others.  This guy was slice and dicing people to get to Emily.  He was obsessed with her and convinced they belonged together.  The darkness that kept trying to invade Emily's mind because of David opening a connection between them was pretty creepy and really added to the depth of the story.  If you are into thrillers and crime novels, then this is a must read!  (I received this copy for an honest review)

Heather lives in Indiana with her husband, D.A. and their twins, Thomas and Alexandra. Professionally she has spent her career working in the area of Intellectual Property law.

Reading has been a passion of hers since she was young. The romantic styles of Judith McNaught and Julie Garwood are her inspiration. Her fascination with the paranormal began to form at the young age of six, watching late-night ghost and vampire movies with her Grandpa. Unfortunately, as a result, she also remains afraid of the dark to this day.

Combining her love of epic romances and the supernatural was a natural progression for her imagination. When the idea for the Ancient of Light series began, it was an abstract storyline rambling around in her head to help kill a few miles on the treadmill.  As the stories and plotlines continued to grow, it finally became necessary to put the words to paper and build the characters that had been living in the Realm in her head for months.

The series is a testament to many miles on the treadmill and lots of characters that insist on having their stories told.
