Review:

First of all, I am wondering whether there will be another in this series because I really like it. Modern day with a magical twist. Book 2 was a great read! As usual, Rogan is like the every day hero that can be overlooked for one reason or another but he is Keisha's rock and is there for her no matter what. But he fears that his past will drive her away. Keisha herself is a strong character and things are changing rapidly for her in this book. And among all that change is the element of danger and the unknown. It gives the book even more of a twist. Dash is an eccentric, but lovable, character I would love to know more about. Jack is also another great one. I love not only the main characters, but the lessers as well. They round the story out well!

Review:

This short story collection is not only Halloween worthy, but worthy of any horror lover's bookshelf. I have to say, these stories were short but punchy. Scary, weird, unnatural, and downright gross in some ways. You won't be bored, that's for sure, as you travel among different stories of people who became ill, people who died, and one or two that will remind you of Hannibal Lecter. Yes, that extreme. It was a very intriguing read and well written!

Review:

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this new book by the author. It combines supernatural elements with a renaissance fair type of event and creates a magical atmosphere that I was easily lost in. I sat down and read the whole thing in one evening. Keisha's story sucked me right in. I love how strong her character is and yet she shows her vulnerabilities and the want to have someone be strong for her for once. Rogan is such a kind and compassionate soul. He is a great character that brings a romantic spin to the book. Captain Dash might be one of my favorites in the entire book. He is very strange, but also fun and loyal. There's more to him than meets the eye. As for the witch, I would like to know more about her story as well as this thing with Layla and Jack. Such a great read! Can't wait to see what's next!

Review for Slither by Valarie Savage Kinney

Review:
I'm not going to lie.  This book freaked me out a little bit.  I am not fond of snakes.  They're on the list of creepy crawlies that I don't like so the thought of a snake hanging out in your body waiting to come out and do some bad stuff is a lot to take in.  Especially the idea behind it being some strange snake god who is in control of it and requires being fed...people's insides.  That's right. It goes down their mouth and eats their insides.  Disgusting right?  But it makes for one interesting horror type story.  There's your love interest between Emmett and Zari.  Zari is our main character and I have to say that she is a strong and brave character, but so is Emmett.  Both have had to suffer huge injustices because of their families and got away from it.  Well, Zari thought she did until her family showed back up and because she doesn't want to pledge her allegiance to Slither, they want to take her baby when it's born.  This book was pretty crazy messed up but it was an intriguing read and I would give a good 4 stars!

Synopsis:

REVIEW

Our own minds can be our biggest enemy...

What an absolutely heart breaking book in some respects.  Exxel is a man trying to so hard to fight his personal demons, but the one that is hitting him the hardest is the Scot that constantly belittles him and tells him to end it all.  This Scotsman is not a man anyone else can see.  It is a product of Exxel's issues that he has had since basically forever.  After seeing therapists, trying pills, and other not so legal things, about the only thing that helps some it seems is his endless obsession with gambling and drinking.  His poor pregnant wife, Helena, is one strong woman as she does her best to help him through things, but everything begins to go further and further down hill.  Now, I don't know much about mental issues, but if I had to guess, this guy had a more than just depression as one.  It just goes to show how absolutely important it is to get not just any help, but the right kind of help for those who are struggling.  This book seems to strongly show just how many issues those with depression and more have to live through day in and day out.

SYNOPSIS
Exxel Jensen has spent his life finding ways to rid himself of the Heckler, and failed miserably. On the surface, his future is bright: a beautiful wife, a child on the way, and a career he loves as a stand up comedian.
