New Release and Review for Sweet Dreams: A Tucker PI Novel by TJ Spade

Sweet Dreams: A Tucker PI Novel
T.J. Spade

Blurb:
Kensei Tucker is a survivor. Ten years ago, she and four other college students were abducted and tortured by a serial killer who went by the name ‘Nightmare’. Kensei was the only survivor of this terrifying ordeal – saved by a grizzled homicide detective named Henry Sloane.

Fast forward and Kensei has moved on with her life. She’s made a home in the sleepy seaside town of Hawkins Landing, where she works as a private investigator at Henry’s agency, and life is good … until her phone rings.
It seems that Nightmare is back and has abducted five new girls. This should be impossible because Nightmare is dead … almost a decade ago, Henry Sloane emptied an entire clip into his chest.
Mac Jacobs works in Intelligence with the NYPD, and his sister, Emily, is one of Nightmare’s new victims. Benched from the case, Mac can think of only one way to find Emily, and this leads him straight to the door of Nightmare’s only survivor.
Will Kensei and Mac outwit an insane killer before it’s too late?
Or will Nightmare finally get what he’s always dreamed of … Kensei Tucker?
Review:
I'm a sucker for a good crime thriller once in a while. But this one? It had me sleeping on the couch with all the lights on. Not that it's scary in a gory way. This is no Texas Chainsaw Massacre or anything like that. This is one messed up psychological thriller. The bad guy is called Nightmare; a guy who's supposedly dead but resurfaces ten years after the heroine, Kensei Tucker, is rescued. Now, I will admit that I had no idea who the bad guy was and it kept me guessing the entire time. The whole thing was plotted out well and frankly this guy is just sick and twisted in ways you don't even realize until the end. I like how the crime part of the novel was always at the forefront instead of it being more about the love interest. I loved Mac and Kensei's budding romance, but it was done in a way so as to not take from the storyline. It enhanced it. I have to admit, I wish there was more about Will. He was a really cool character I would love to know more about. All in all, I really enjoyed it. The author created a rather realistic tale that is haunting and daunting.
5 out of 5 stars!

Author Melissa Alexander
Genre: Contemporary Romance/FBI
Synopsis
Adam Miles is always up for a good time.  He’s the guy you call for no-strings-attached fun—not the guy you call for a relationship.  Adam doesn’t have time for the white-picket fence dream.  He’s too busy tracking down killers and putting them away.  Until he met her.
Ellis James doesn’t want a serious relationship.  She’s been there, done that, and has the emotional scars to prove it.  Ellis is focused on her career and is kicking butt as an FBI agent in Atlanta.  When Adam and Ellis first meet she is working undercover, and he has no idea of her real occupation.  Misconceptions are formed, but neither can stop thinking about the other.  Until her case blows up in her face.

Ellis has attracted the attention of a killer who will stop at nothing to have her.  As Adam and Ellis spend time together, they feel their attraction growing stronger each day.  What should be one night of passion turns into more. Preorder for Hit Man (Most Wanted Book 1) by J.L. Beck

Hit Man (Most Wanted Series #1)Kindle Edition
by J.L. Beck  (Author)

A hit man and a bookworm walk into a bar. No, seriously they do.

Wes Reynolds has one goal, and one goal only. Take out the target, collect the payment, and go to the next job. What happens though when you discover the next target is yourself? And that death couldn't have come at the most wrong time.

*****“I was shot…” I stated the obvious. The voice that met my ears didn’t sound like my own. It was gruff, and croaky. I had been shot. I had nearly died, and because of this criminal. This man.

“Yup you were…” Wes sighed into the air, making the air in the room that much more stiff. There wasn't a single sign of him being sorry in his voice which made me want to reach out and slap the f*ck out of him all that more. He had almost taken my life, yet he didn't seem the least bit concerned. Maybe he didn't have a heart, or maybe he just didn't care.

#PREORDER today, and pay on release day for this dangerous, and highly intoxicating new series from J.L. Beck. It's sure to have you holding onto the edge of your seat.

Review and Release Day for Bent Penny by John Day

Blurb:
The psychological crime thriller, set in London, begs to be read in one go, tugging the reader onwards through its intense drama.
D.I. Penny Britain is a brilliant detective, but despised by colleagues for not being normal, like them.
She has dark secrets and no man, or woman come to that, in her life. Until Paul enters her life, that is, but he is taken.
Her boss dumps a high profile kidnapping case on her. She discovers a trail of intrigue and murder out of all proportion to the crime. Then the dead bodies start piling up as someone covers their tracks. When Penny finally discovers the enormity of the threat she faces, her name is added to the hit list.
What is the connection to the gruesome Concrete Man murder? A dead body, but no victim.
Who is the serial killer dubbed the Index Murderer? Elusive as a ghost, forensically aware and super smart, leaving no clues. Who will be next?
Another gripping John Day thriller, like no other you will have read.

Review:
Another great and exciting read from John Day! Bent Penny is full of action and suspense! A high profile kidnapping is given to Penny to investigate but she gets into more than she bargains for. A group of terrorists are somehow tied to the case, which ends up being so much more than routine. All the while the police are also looking for a serial killer. Penny has the worst luck with men. I kind of feel sorry for her really. Well, besides the underhanded dealings she gets involved in. When it comes to that, she made her bed. It ends in a cliffhanger that makes you wonder what kind of trouble Penny will get into next and whether she can right things.

Review and Release Day for Soul Reapers by Shay West

Blurb:

Detectives Elliot “Eli” Robbins and Ava Aguilar are stumped by a series of seemingly unrelated kidnappings. Utilizing all possible resources, Eli and Ava struggle to find answers despite little physical evidence and few witnesses. When a strange piece of paper is found at one of the crime scenes, it sends Eli and Ava on a chase for a killer who isn’t what he seems.

Review:

I gotta say, anything involving children makes my heart accelerate ten times faster and anxiety of all sorts kick in.  And this is one of those books.  A thriller/suspense, if I have ever read one, Soul Reapers is a dark read that deals with Satanic rituals that involve murder and demon possession.  If you can't read this type of stuff, it's not the book for you.  But, if you're into crime novels and thrillers, you might want to check this one out!  At one point in time I read Dean Koontz and so I enjoyed reading this, but the ending was not what I expected it to be like for some in the book.  The two detectives in this book, Eli and Ava, I feel bad for.  Five years ago they had another paranormal case involving another world in the book Organ Reapers.  Well, now they are dealing with another and don't know it until closer to the end, but the similarities between the cases are forever in the back of their minds.  Not to mention, Eli's neighbor is having all kinds of trouble with sleeping and such since his wife passed.  Ava starts dating him which complicates things since Eli has always had a thing for her but they work together and it is forbidden.  But they find so little each time a child comes up missing that it is very frustrating for the two as they try to track down this person before someone else goes missing. (I would recommend reading Organ Reapers first before this book, but it is not necessary.)

5 out of 5 stars!

Fugitive by John Day

Max and Carla are at it again, on their big adventures full of danger and always life-threatening!  Except this time a complication arises and Max ends up in the hospital without any recollection of who he is or why the authorities are out to get him.  In fact, the feds are always after Max and Carla.  Why?  Well they wok for a super under cover agency called The Organisation and they do a lot of under-handed business getting things done.  Because Max escapes, Carla and The Organisation cannot seem to locate him.  Because he is still recovering, he needs someone to look after him until he is well.  It so happens that Max meets a girl on the streets who nurses him back to health and gets in on his plan of getting cash and starting to build real identities for themselves so they won't have to worry about the authorities always chasing them.  This girl, Star, turns out to be something vastly different than what Max had thought.  In a confession to him one night, she tells him that she's basically a serial killer with a mental problem and she broke out of an institution.  And now Max wonders if his life is also in danger from her, but he goes with it and carries out several nefarious plans involving local drug gangs.  All the while, Carla is desperately seeking him while on a mission for The Organisation.  She is determined to get him back no matter what!

I thoroughly enjoyed this thriller by John Day!  It has tons of adventure and energy to it so you are guaranteed to never get bored with it!  I especially like the idea of introducing a possible new love interest for Max and the whole amnesia thing.  Since he can't seem to remember who he was before, he goes on with his life.  What is funny is that he is doing almost the same thing he would have been doing under The Organisation.  However, he is good enough to even avoid their eye for quite a while which is quite a feat for anyone.  If you like thrillers, then you should look into this one!
