Just finished up reading this one and I was kind of glad it wasn't really scary. I liked the different perspective that the author gave on how the zombie apocalypse began and the fact that the main character was a bit of a conspiracy theorist and one who was prepared for some major fallout to happen. If something major really did happen, this type of person would be the one ready for it. That's who you would want to find. The journey of this guy and his friends is filled with zombie hordes and an interesting little tidbit at the end about the corporation that started all of this mess. I do have to wonder though about what happened to the deputy that disappeared in the end. Is he actually dead? Is he a zombie? Or is he a traitor?
Blurb:
This book is the first of three than I plan to write for this series. It tracks the travels of myself and 3 friends as we attempt to escape the Zombie apocalypse. The story is set in Southern Illinois, Carbondale to be specific, as that is where I currently live.
The apocalypse was caused by a combination of factors. One was our government allowed people with the Nova virus to come to our country to get help. We are still the only country that allows that. Second, a corrupt (are there any others) mega corporation that was given a huge government contract to perfect a vaccine to cure Nova allowed the vaccines to become contaminated. Millions of people took the vaccine and I think the reader will figure out what happened as a result of the contamination.
It is very hard to keep politics out of Zombie books, so I do not try to. I express my opinions as I see things as do the other characters in the book. Please keep in mind that this book is a work of fiction. All characters appearing in this work are fictitious. Any resemblance to real persons, living or dead, is purely coincidental.
